Library Demos New Magnifying Equipment Purchased with Lions Donation

ABOVE: Valerie Smith (left), Manager of Adult Services, and Joanne Eldridge, Director of Lorain Public Library System, attended the Lions lunch meeting on June 30 to demonstrate the capabilities of the new magnifying equipment purchased with funds donated by the Lorain Lions.  These are state-of-the-art pieces that are for use in the library by persons who need magnification and persons who are searching for the magnification device that best suits them.

Lorain Lions take part in 50th Lorain International Parade

Lorain Lions Club participates in 50th Lorain International parade on June 26. Thanks to Lions Dan Asensio, Bruce Bevan and his grandson, Gary Fischer and his musical locomotive, Edward J. BakerTimothy LombardiKen Cromer, Ralph O'Hara, Walter Frey and Dan Smith.

Speaker at Lorain International Festival Breakfast

 Lion Dan Smith represented the Lorain Lions Club at the Lorain International Festival Breakfast on June 20. Alec D. Van Ryan talked about how legendary Journal Editor Irving (Leibo) Leibowitz created the International Festival 50 years ago. Alec was the reporter at the paper chosen by the editor to write about the festival's beginnings. A scrapbook of his articles are on display at the Lorain Historical Society's Carnegie Center. Also pictured is Marilyn Zeidner, daughter of the late Journal editor.  Dan presented Alec with one of Lorain Lions lighthouse pins. Lorain Lions and Lorain High School Leos plans to march and hand out candy at the International Parade on Sunday, June 26.

Lions Install President Tim Lombardi and Officers

Lion Barry Buck celebrated for his June birthday and, as has been his custom, he paid the dollar for deceased Lion Randy Swaim, whose birthday was also in June.

From left, Lori Pyles-Goodwin, PCC Sharon Parker, and Kevin Goodwin. Lori was recently chosen by Lorain City Schools at the advisor for the Lorain High School Leo Club. Lori and Kevin are planning to join the Lorain Lions Club.
