Superintendent Tom Tucker speaks to Lions

ABOVE:  Lion President Kim Worden presents Lorain City Schools Superintendent Tom Tucker with the club's Lorain Lighthouse pin after his luncheon presentation to Lions on March 26.  Tucker presented a brief update on the schools progress in recent years and gave a slide program showing the new Lorain High School building.

LORAIN LIONS AND HEALTH & DENTISTRY VISION CLINIC RECOGNIZED AT CONVENTION

ABOVE: Kembra Smith, Lions Clubs International Director, from Atlanta, Georgia, was the keynote speaker at the Ohio Lions District 13B annual convention, held  at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron on March 13-15, 2015.  
ABOVE:  International Director Kembra Smith (left), Lorain County Health & Dentistry Optometrist, Joyce Ramsue-Thompson (center) and Past Council Chair of Ohio Lions, Forrest Conrad (right), during Ms. Smith's site visit to the Vision Clinic at LCH&D on Friday, March 13.  The state-of-the-art equipment at the Vision Clinic was partly funded with a $75,000 grant from Lions Clubs International Foundation, Chicago, Illinois.  Another $175,000 needed to equip the Vision Clinic was raised through the efforts of the Lorain Lions Club and the 56 clubs of Lions District 13B.

"ROCKIN' ON THE RIVER" AND HOW IT CAME TO LORAIN, WHAT IT WILL MEAN TO THE CITY

ABOVE:  Organizers Bob Earley and his wife Sandy attended the March 5 dinner meeting of the Lions on March 5, 2015 and talked about the “Rockin’ On the River” concerts this summer at Black River Landing. The concerts were a huge success in Cuyahoga Falls and are expected to draw huge crowds to downtown Lorain. This was a very entertaining and informative program that left us all excited about the activity on the riverfront and downtown area this year.

MERCY THRIFT SHOP MANAGER SPEAKS TO LIONS

Linda Booth, manager of the Mercy Thrift Shop on W. 21st Street, spoke to the Lorain Lions at the February 26 luncheon about the origins, purpose and work of the shop, which is run completely by volunteers of the hospital auxiliary.
