FIGHTING HUNGER IN NORTH CENTRAL OHIO

ABOVE: Julie Chase-Morefield, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, spoke at the Lorain Lions luncheon meeting on October 9.  She explained the exploding growth in its food distribution operations to meet the need to combat hunger in our region.  The organization has raised over $4 million to enable the building of a new food distribution facility on Baumhart Road and still needs $750,000 to complete the project.  For more information and to help, go to moreimpactlesshunger.org.

Julie Chase-Morefield (above left), Second Harvest Executive Director, and Susan Bartosch (above right), External Affairs Manager at Second Harvest, presented a compelling story of meeting the challenges of feeding those without the means to get adequate food.  The new facility, now under construction, will make it possible to provide more fresh foods with better refrigeration capacity and more space for volunteers to repack foods.
