Lion Dan Smith represented the Lorain Lions Club at the Lorain International Festival Breakfast on June 20. Alec D. Van Ryan talked about how legendary Journal Editor Irving (Leibo) Leibowitz created the International Festival 50 years ago. Alec was the reporter at the paper chosen by the editor to write about the festival's beginnings. A scrapbook of his articles are on display at the Lorain Historical Society's Carnegie Center. Also pictured is Marilyn Zeidner, daughter of the late Journal editor. Dan presented Alec with one of Lorain Lions lighthouse pins. The Lorain Lions Club has been serving the Lorain community and its citizens since it was founded in 1922. The club meets every Thursday at Rebman's On The Avenue, 5300 Oberlin Avenue, at noon, except on the first Thursday when it meets at 7 p.m. for dinner.
