LORAIN COUNTY HEALTH & DENTISTRY RECOGNIZES LIONS OF DISTRICT 13B

LORAIN LIONS EARN AWARDS AT DISTRICT CONVENTION


ABOVE:  The Growl was awarded second place among District 13B newsletters during the Saturday Awards luncheon at the District Convention.  Congratulations to Lion Dan Smith and many thanks to him for all his work this past year on the Growl.

ABOVE:  The Lorain Lions Club was presented the Humanitarian Service Award in recognition of our club's contributions to the charitable funds of Ohio Lions and Lions Clubs International.  Good work Lions!

OBERLIN COLLEGE SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR SPEAKS TO LIONS

ABOVE:  Bridget Flynn (right), Environmental Sustainability Fellow at Oberlin College, presented a fascinating program about the vision and efforts to create a completely self-sustained environment at not only Oberlin College, but also in the City of Oberlin.  This effort is one of only 3 others in the country and 18 around the world.  The accomplishments so far are impressive and the plan is to reach the goal by 2025.  Thanks to Lion Gary Koepp (above left) for arranging this program.

LORAIN COUNTY ENGINEER EXPLAINS COUNTY ENGINEER'S OFFICE AND PROJECTS

YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN ADDRESSES LIONS

Youth Services Librarian Supervisor, Elaine Betting, spoke to Lions at our March 13 luncheon meeting about the Lorain Public Library System's Summer Reading Club.  More than 2,200 children participate and receive a book as a they complete a specified number of hours reading.  If they participate from pre-school through the 12th grade, they can build their own home library of 85 books.  This program helps children retain reading skills through the summer months school vacation.
