Polish Fisherman's Club and Lorain Rotary Present Pier Project to Lions

ABOVE:  At the July 7 dinner meeting of the Lions, Rob Levitt (left), of Lorain Rotary Club, and Tom Saltis, Polish Fisherman's Club, presented the two clubs' project to build an 800 foot long pier off the west end of Lakeview Park Beach in Lorain.  Approvals from the ODNR, City of Lorain, Lorain County Metroparks are pending and support from state and federal elected officials for this $10.5 million project is lining up.  The pier would be family friendly, a great spot for fishing and appropriate for large community events such as art and crafts shows.  Grants will be sought from state and federal sources, as well as charitable contributions, which will be administered at the Community Foundation of Lorain County.  Hopefully in 3-5 years we will all be enjoying this added feature, which will be sure to draw thousands of visitors to Lorain.
